Authentic Looking "Show / Borgia Portraiture" Costumes
In the show Lucrezia has her portrait painted by Pinturicchio. If you look at her dress it very closely resembles that of the historical portrait. The "V" pattern on the bodice with the inlaid panel is very close to the original. The sleeves are about as close as you can get. If you take into account the fading of the paint in the portrait, the colours in this photo are probably not too far off the original painting.
This is a historical painting of Lucrezia and she is said to represent Ste. Catherine in it.
In the episode "Lucrezia's Wedding", Vanozza is seen here with Theo (her husband) and she is wearing a dress similar in style, and certainly colour, to that of her real portrait to the right.
Historical portrait of Vanozza dei Cattanei. In this portrait the upper part of the sleeves are certainly larger than those seen in the dress from season 1.
One of the earlier promo photos realeased prior to season 1 of the show. This is also a costume that figured very prominently in the first 2 episodes. The attention to detail from an historical portrait is amazing.
Historical portrait of Pope Alexander VI. This costume is brilliantly recreated by the uber talented Gabriella Pescucci for the show.
