This costume is pure elegance and grace. I absolutely love it!

Absolutely adore this dress, the colours are so rich and really compliment Joanne

Red and gold are her colors, just looks perfect with her hair and skin color, very rich and elegant

This Gown is so luch, the stripes are bold! Sleves are period, while I love Lucrezia's Gowns, I am drawn to her Mother's fabrics.

I love the deep rich blue of this costume, and the matching veil.

A real beautiful, deep blue that looks great on her. I'm not sure if the colorful pattern down the front and at the elbows fits though; I can't help but think it would be better in a different color. I also adore the veil.-Anne'sCurls
I like the pink brocade versus the blue silk draws attention to her waist, makes her look thinner and detail on the sleeves of the same fabric is nice, very pretty.

Is their a specific name for the veil on her head or is it just called a veil? I love the combination of the lighter blue and darker blue in her gown. I hope this gown comes back for some more episodes.-AC
Its a veil over a juliet cap from what I can tell. I love the veils in this series very authentic and appropriate. Love the pattern brocade its delicate and luxurious.
*butterflyfunkychic*
This colour really suits Joanne, strong bold colours, the pearls on the sleeves and bodice really finish this gown off.
+ Kittywake09+
It is intetresting as Courtesans in Venetian Society were told to wear Golden or Yellow veils to distinguish thier status. So I thought it was intresting that this gown has blue and gold veiling,

I'm not really feeling the skirt of this gown. It just doesn't seem to fit; it should be wider, but instead it just seems to flow limply from the bodice.-AC
If you don't wear the proper stiffer undergarments to fluff the outter silk fabric it goes limp like this. Mom's advice
is right proper
undergarments are important.

#1. This is not a Brocade, which would be a gold/silver thread added to the base of the fabrics. This is a lovely Damask, and again I don't know if the stripes are period, I know they did some, I just don't know how much was used. The Gold/Red verison of the veiling we saw in the blue/gold, has me wondering if they are trying to prove the point that Vanozza is a Courtesan as such wears the color.

Oh wow love the rich gold and dark burgundy colors and how they play off one another, though this was tones of chocolate at first, the sleeve puff detail is gorgeous. Shows that you don't need to much going on pattern wise to make a pretty gown.
*butterflyfunkychic*
Brown is or was typically the color of mourning or servitude. So I think it a great choice in this gown when she figures out she has been supplanted and is in mourning of her love relationship with the Pope

Joanne Whalley as Vanozza dei Cattanei

Joanne Whalley in a beautiful dress. The colours are quite different from her other ones in season 1. This dress is a bit more youthful with the brighter colours.

The olive green and light red/orange are really combined well to make this gown work, not colors I would have choose but I do like how it looks together as a whole garment.

Vanozza dei Cattanei played by Joanne Whalley

Joanne Whalley here from the episode "The Assassin". She wore several red dresses in the show and the colour is stunning on her. Her jewellery is a perfect compliment to the bodice of the dress.

This is a beautiful gown worn by a beautiful lady. Will never understand why the Pope would want that other chick! The designs of this gown are beautiful and the way they put the red on gold makes the designs pop out. This is probably one of the best put together gowns of the first season.-Anne'sCurls
