A beautiful young woman who is also wise beyond her years, Lucrezia is the apple of her father's eye. However, this does not prevent him from marrying her off at the earliest opportunity to Giovanni Sforza, a loutish brute whose family rules the powerful city-state of Milan. *Source Showtime

Her name derives from the Roman legend of Lucretia, a woman who killed herself rather than suffer the shame of being raped. Lucretia is a symbol of womanly chastity.

It was rumored that one of her children was fathered by her brother Cesare Borgia.

She enjoyed a romance with her brother in law, Francesco II Gonzaga.

She may have had an affair with a poet named Pietro Bembo later Cardinal Bembo while duchess of Ferrara.

She died on the 24th of June, 1519, from a fever contracted shortly after giving birth to her seventh child.
