TORONTO - An upcoming Irish-Canadian historical drama bound for History Television promises to accurately represent the brutal world of Vikings.

"Vikings" is being co-produced by partners including Ireland's World 2000 and the Toronto-based Take 5 Productions, whose past projects have included "The Tudors" and "The Borgias."

Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios, Inc. says the show will chronicle the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok, an actual historical figure, and his family.

It's created and written by Michael Hirst of "Camelot" and "The Tudors." He says he's long had an interest in Viking culture, pagan mythology and Norse sagas.
